Like Grandfather Home, Barium Springs seeks to meet the needs of hurting children. Our members regularly provide supplies as each new school year begins.
About Barium Springs Home For Children
Founded in 1891, Barium Springs, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, provided services to almost 3,000 children, families and individuals in 2012.
The NC Department of Health and Human Services reports that over 200,000 children needed the type of services they provide but only half of those children received help. The goal of Barium Springs is to work toward closing this gap so that ALL children and families in North Carolina will receive the help they need.
Currently, they offer services in 41 North Carolina counties. They have 13 different office locations. Their headquarters are located in Statesville, NC with regional offices in Wilkesboro and Asheville.
Barium Springs provides an array of services for children, families and individuals throughout North Carolina. Their three main objectives are to:
- Provide “A Safe Home” through group homes, therapeutic foster care and adoption programs
- “Heal the Hurt” for individuals that are troubled, abused or neglected
- Encourage “A Healthy Start” through educational, prevention and developmental programs
